What are cookie truffles?
Typically they are easy chocolate treats made with cookie dough and chocolate. They’re then rolled into small balls and topped with colorful sprinkles, chocolate flakes or coconut to make them pretty for any occasion.
This version is made with social tea biscuits, butter, chocolate, raisins and Turkish delight. They are shaped into a larger ball (about the size of 4 regular cookie balls) and rolled in coconut.
What makes these chocolate cookie balls different?
Most chocolate cookie balls use chocolate cookies (hello Oreo balls!) or chocolate cake mix. These cookie balls use social tea biscuits instead for a creamier texture and a perfect sized treat to easily pop in your mouth when you’re on the go.
My cookie balls use melted butter instead of cream cheese. These cookie balls are also “naked”, they don’t require any dipping in melted chocolate so they’re easier and faster to make.
What kind of cookies can I use as a base?
There are a lot of chocolate cookie ball recipes out there, but the best ones only call for a few ingredients. The beauty of these chocolate cookie balls is that you can make them from any kind of cookies you want.
I used social tea biscuits to make these chocolate cookie balls, but you can use graham crackers or chocolate cookies such as Oreo cookies if that’s all you have in your kitchen (or you’d rather make Oreo cookie balls).
You can also swap the social tea biscuits for gluten-free cookies.
What other ingredients can I use?
You can also add mix-ins like nuts or dried fruit to change up the flavor and texture of this recipe.
I used raisins and Turkish delight, but chocolate chips, white chocolate, peanut butter or almonds would be delicious variations.
What other flavors can I use for these treats?
Once you get the chocolate cookie ball base down, you can experiment with all kinds of flavor combinations. You can make minty cookie balls by adding mint extract and topping them off with chocolate crumbles and chopped peppermint candy.
Or for raspberry cookie balls, try using raspberry biscuits or adding some dried raspberries.
Or you can roll them in powdered sugar to make them look like snowballs and serve them as holiday dessert. The chocolate biscuit balls are so versatile!
What kind of chocolate should I use?
You can use any chocolate for these chocolate cookie balls, just make sure it’s in small pieces so it melts easily when mixed with the butter. Some suggestions are chocolate chips, chocolate bark or chocolate baking squares.
When to serve chocolate cookie balls?
These chocolate cookie balls are made with social tea biscuits and taste like Italian chocolate salami. They’re the perfect treat to enjoy while relaxing at home or taking on-the-go.
Serve chocolate cookie balls chilled with tea/coffee/milk. You can even use them as an ice cream topping!
You can make them as bite size cookies or as individual mini cakes as I did here and serve them at parties. These amazing chocolate cookie balls are the perfect treat for a party! Just imagine how impressed your guests will be when they see that you made these yourself! Stick a toothpick in each to make serving them easier.
They’re also perfect for potlucks or as gift-giving ideas. I often make chocolate cookie balls to take to other people’s houses or bring them as gifts when I visit family.
You can also make these chocolate cookie bites for kids after school or as after-dinner treats.
How long do chocolate truffles last?
They should last around 1 week in the fridge! Store them in an air-tight container and they should stay delicious and soft for a week!
Can you freeze cookie balls?
Absolutely! You can make them in advance and put them in a freezer bag with all of your other frozen foods.
They should stay good in the freezer for around 3 months, so you can whip up a batch anytime for a party or as a chocolatey afternoon treat! Thaw them out in the fridge for around 6 hours before serving.
These cookies are so easy and quick to make with minimal prep time! Making these no bake cookie balls is easy and fun for all ages. I promise you won’t be able to stop eating them once you start! Give them a try today!

These chocolate balls were so easy to make and the perfect little treat for when the afternoon munchies strike. I didn’t have Turkish delight, so I added candied ginger instead.
