How to make lemon crunch cake?
Using your slow cooker to bake a cake is one of the best ways to cook this delicious dessert. That’s because all you have to do is dump the ingredients in the pot and let the slow cooker do all the hard work for you! And since there’s no need for a separate bowl to prepare the ingredients, you’ll have less dishes to do when you’re finished baking.
To bake a slow cooker cake, just follow these four simple steps:
Grease the pot
Before adding the ingredients for your cake to the slow cooker, it’s a good idea to grease the pot to keep your cake from sticking. You can use nonstick cooking spray or butter to grease the sides and bottom of the pot. A slow cooker liner or parchment paper is another simple way to prevent the dessert from sticking to the sides of the pot while it’s baking.
Add the ingredients
After the pot is ready to go, add the cake ingredients to the pot. Since this dessert is made with cake mix, just combine the cake mix with the oil, eggs, and water to the pot. Whisk everything together until the batter is well combined, then add the condensed milk and candy and mix. You can use a mixer if you like.
Cook and stir
Once all the ingredients are well blended, place the lid on your slow cooker and set it to cook on high. After around 30 minutes of cooking, remove the lid and stir the ingredients together to help mix the melted Kit Kats into the rest of the cake ingredients. Then, replace the lid and let the cake continue cooking for another 30 minutes and give the mixture another stir.
Allow the cake to cool
After stirring your cake, turn off the slow cooker and allow the cake to cool completely. Then, you can spread the frosting over the top of the cake and add decorations, like more lemon Kit Kats.
Serve your slow cooker dessert
To serve your crock pot cake, simply spoon it onto dessert plates. You can eat the cake as-is or top it with some whipped cream or ice cream for even more sweet flavor or lemon curd for extra lemony flavor or decorated with some lemon zest and powder sugar or coconut.
Can I Make Lemon Crunch Cake in the Oven?
While making this simple recipe in the slow cooker is a quick and easy way to prepare it, you can also cook it in the oven. Simply add the ingredients to a 9×13 baking dish and bake according to the instructions on the box.
How Do You Store Lemon Crunch Cake?
If you have leftovers after everyone has enjoyed a scoop of this lemony cake, you can store them in the refrigerator. Either transfer the cooled pot from your slow cooker directly to the fridge. Or transfer the leftover cake into an airtight container. The cake can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.
Storing the leftover cake in the fridge is the best way to keep it fresh, but eating cold cake isn’t very appetizing. To warm up the leftovers, place the cake in the microwave for around 30 seconds before eating it.
Can a lemon cake be left out?
No, the lemon cake should not be left out at room temperature. Because it contains dairy, eggs, and other perishable ingredients, the cake must be refrigerated to prevent food-borne illness.
If you plan on serving the cake to guests at a summer party, keep the desserts in an ice cooler until they’re ready to eat.
Lemon Crunch Cake Recipe Variations
You’re going to love how simple this cake is to make. And that means it’s also simple to adjust. Use these recipe variations to create a delicious dessert no matter what ingredients you have on hand.
- Use white or yellow cake mix. Lemon cake mix is the best way to add tons of flavor to this easy dessert. But if you don’t have any lemon cake mix, you can substitute white or yellow cake mix instead. To add more lemon flavor to your dessert, mix one teaspoon of lemon extract or the zest of one lemon into the cake mix before baking it.
- Try different lemon candy or cookies. Can’t find lemon Kit Kats in your store? Try substituting the Kit Kats for other lemon-flavored chocolate candy, like Dove white chocolate and lemon or lemon truffles. And to add crunch to your cake, mix in some crushed lemon Oreos.
This slow cooker lemon crunch cake is a delicious dessert that’s so simple to make. With only a few steps and a handful of ingredients, you can whip up this lemony treat any night of the week. Whether you like to stick with the classic recipe or would rather mix things up with different variations, this is one dessert that never disappoints! So grab a spoon and dig in! Enjoy!
