What are the benefits of a kitchen conversion chart?
Both my baking conversion chart and oven conversion chart are helpful because they offer easy-to-read measurements in the common units used when cooking. This helps you save lots of time and ensures successful baking. My printable conversion charts can be printed out and kept near your kitchen counter, so you have them handy whenever a recipe calls for ingredients measured using different units of measurement, in your cooking book or on the fridge.
How to use a conversion chart for cooking?
Using these printable conversion charts is simple!
- First, you will need to locate the ingredient that is measured in different units of measurement (such as grams and cups)
- Next, look at the measurements offered on your printable conversion chart. Find where it says “grams” or “cups” to see how many grams are in a cup. Most people love using cups as measurements.
- Once you have the measurements needed and their conversion, it is simple to measure out ingredients from recipes!
What are some common conversions you might need to know, and why do they matter to you?
Along with being able to convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit you might also have a need for converting things like ounces, pints, or teaspoons, simply because those are the conversions you’re used to.
You might even want to make more complex conversions such as gallons per liter (which is actually equal to a liter per 100 milliliters).
Converting the measurements and oven temperatures to your needs are very important for the success of your recipe. While some recipes will allow you small alterations, others are very strict when it comes to measurements and oven temperatures. And for those you need to make sure you follow the measurements with 100% accuracy.
Why is it important for me to use the same units of measurement when converting measurements?
When a newbie baker wants to bake a cake that is triple the size of their regular recipe, it becomes important for them to use the same units of measurement. This way they can ensure they have enough ingredients, in the correct ratio and do not accidentally omit something from the batter or have some ingredients in larger or smaller quantities than others. Because if so, this could cause problems later on when preparing and baking the cake.
When should I use a kitchen conversion chart instead of converting by hand?
Conversion charts are helpful when you need to convert units of mass or volume, as well as time. You can use them for other conversions if they contain the information that you need.
This is also true when the conversion involves changing between different types of measurements using English and metric units.
Conversion charts can be especially useful for people who don’t have a strong grasp of math, or for those who are still working on conversions in the kitchen.
What are some other ways people have converted measurements in the past?
In the past, people have converted measurements by using a variety of tools including rulers and scales. In fact, they’ve even used their own body parts as measuring sticks! For instance, during World War One soldiers were faced with an increased need to measure objects quickly without access to accurate tools or machines that could help them do so. To this day many people still use “measuring tools” such as handfuls, pinches or fingers.
Do I need any special equipment?
All you will need for cooking with a kitchen conversion chart are basic kitchen utensils like measuring cups and spoons. You can also use a cooking scale if you have one available!
What is the benefit of using a food scale?
Using a food scale for converting measurements from recipes will allow you to measure out ingredients more accurately and easily since scales are very precise. If you plan on cooking regularly, a kitchen scale is an investment worth making!
How to measure ingredients with a food scale?
To use your digital or battery-operated kitchen scales for converting measurements from recipes:
- First, you will need the ingredient that is measured in different units of measurement (such as ounces and cups)
- Next, look at the measurements offered on your conversion chart. Find where it says “ounces” or “cups” to see how many ounces are in a cup or how many cups are in an ounce.
- Once you have the measurements needed, weigh out ingredients from recipes!
Where to find a printable conversion chart for cooking
I have a great conversion chart for cooking! It has the following cup to grams for basic cooking from 1/4 cup all the way up to 1 cup for the following ingredients:
- Flour
- Cocoa
- Granulated Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Icing Sugar
- Butter
It also has measurements for liquids from 1/4 cup up to 1 cup as well.
There is also an oven conversation chart. This chart converts from Fahrenheit to Celsius. It even tells you what gas mark to use! I think that is a great added bonus! You will know how to convert temperatures ranging from 225° to 500°.

How to protect your printed out conversion chart
You can protect your printed-out chart by laminating it or putting it in a sleeve! This will keep the paper from getting wet, food spilled on it, and crinkling up. If you laminate your charts, they are also more durable which means they will last longer!
How to display your cooking charts
You can display your charts so they are easy to find, on the fridge with hanging up with magnets or tape it inside of a cabinet, so it is hidden, but at your fingertips when you need it.
If you’ve ever been in a situation where you need to convert measurements, but don’t have access to the conversion charts that are normally printed off and laminated for easy reference, I might just be able to help! My printable conversion chart is conveniently sized so it can fit on your fridge door – meaning no more hunting through the kitchen looking for the right measurement when someone needs salt from a teaspoon instead of a tablespoon.
I hope this helps make cooking easier for everyone who uses these charts! I would love to know your thoughts on these kitchen charts so please, don’t hesitate to leave a comment below.
